"When we considered our entry to the aircraft industry in 2007, we knew that we should expect to invest years before getting attention to our company and our new technology. We eventually chose an unconventional way of market introduction through CCA and ended up finding ourselves in the spotlight already at our first day in the industry. The Crystal Cabin Award - International Excellence

The Crystal Cabin Award is the only international award for excellence in aircraft interior innovation, donated by the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

This unique honour for outstanding cabin products and concepts was presented for the first time ever on 17 April 2007 during the Aircraft Interiors trade fair in Hamburg.

In 2010 the participants competet in six categories: Entertainment and Communication; Materials and Components; Greener Cabin, Health and Safety; Passenger Comfort; Industrial Design and Interior Concept; University.

64 applicants from 13 different nations entered their latest innovations in the competition.

The award is designed to motivate companies and research facilities to develop new products and modern designs for aircraft cabin interiors. The development, manufacture and marketing of the innovative products or services must offer a potential essential customer benefit in terms of usefulness, both to the final consumer as well as to the parts manufacturers. The Crystal Cabin Awards ultimate goal is to initiate a significant improvement in passenger comfort.

The Crystal Cabin Awards 2010 are presented in association with Aircraft Interiors Expo (Reed Exhibitions) and sponsored by Airbus, Aircraft Interiors Expo, the Aircraft Interiors International Magazine, Bishop GmbH, DIEHL Aerosystems Holding GmbH, FERCHAU AVIATION Division, HTG Media Hamburg and Jetliner Cabins.
